Gov. Bentley Tuesday signed a bill clearing the way for people who suffer seizures to get an oil derived from marijuana. The legislation sets up a study by UAB. Supporters of "Carly's Law" say CBD oil eases the effects of seizures, without the mind-altering effects associated with marijuana. The law is named for Carly Chandler, a 3-year old girl from Inverness, who suffers frequent seizures. Bentley said he has always been supportive of medical research to discover new medicines, and supports a clinical trial of CBD oil to determine its effectiveness.
