A former junior firefighter is charged with setting fires in Jefferson County. The suspect is identified as 23-year old Joshua Dodd of Bessemer. Chief Rob Ryan with the Eastern Valley Fire Department says the fires burned the woods near the Meadow Lakes subdivision. "We saw him at two fires, he was there at the scene when we got there," Ryan said. Authorities say Dodd admitted setting the fires. Ryan says Dodd left the junior firefighter program a decade ago, after suspicious fires at his home. "That's not surprising to us," said Jefferson County chief sheriff's deputy Randy Christian. "It appears he has some issues, you can look up the definition of pyromania, I think he certainly fits that."
