Jeffrey Toobin,Ā CNN'sĀ chief legal analyst, has beenĀ placed on leave after he exposed himselfĀ during a Zoom call. Toobin was in a conference call with his colleagues at theĀ New YorkerĀ and a local radio station when he allegedly began to masturbate, thinking he was off-camera. TheĀ New Yorker, where Toobin works as a reporter, also suspended him.
"Jeffrey Toobin has been suspended while we investigate the matter," theĀ New YorkerĀ said in a statement.
According toĀ VICE, the call was an election simulation, andĀ Toobin decided to pleasure himself during a ten-minute break. When some of his colleagues returned to the call, they could see Toobin touching himself.
He then disconnected from Zoom, only to return a few minutes later, seeminglyĀ unaware what his co-workers saw.
"I made an embarrassingly stupid mistake, believing I was off-camera. I apologize to my wife, family, friends, and co-workers," Toobin toldĀ Motherboard. "I believed I was not visible on Zoom. I thought no one on the Zoom call could see me. I thought I had muted the Zoom video."
