This Week's Weird News 5/27/22

A lovesick electrician's romantic misadventure, a crop circle that captivated a legendary musician, and a woman who appeared on British morning TV with the claim that she is dating an alien were among the strange and unusual stories to cross our desk this week.

This past week saw something of a strange love story emerge out of India, when an electrician went to drastic measures in pursuit of some private time with his paramour. The weird case began when residents in the village of Ganeshpur noticed that they inexplicably kept losing their power for a few hours every night. In search of answers one darkened evening, they stumbled upon a local electrician on a rendezvous with his girlfriend. When questioned, the man revealed that he had been purposely cutting the electricity to the town so that the pair could meet in secret. Remarkably, the romantic misadventure ultimately had a storybook ending as, with their relationship having been revealed, the couple wound up getting married.

The worlds of the paranormal and pop culture unexpectedly met this past week thanks to a mysterious crop circle that appeared in England and a legendary musician who found the sight captivating. The peculiar crossover began when the second crop formation of 2022 was discovered in a barley field in the hamlet of Hippenscombe over the weekend. Boasting a design reminiscent of an inverted saw circling a ring of four spheres, the anomaly just so happened to be spotted by Queen guitarist Brian May as he flew over the field on his way back from rehearsal. Mystified by what he was seeing, the musician posted his own pictures of the crop circle to social media and wondered what could have created it.

By far the most bizarre story of the week came by way of Britain, where a nationally televised morning show interviewed a woman who claims to be dating an alien. Appearing alongside an inflatable ET meant to serve as the placeholder for her interstellar beau, Emanuela Rose detailed how the two had fallen in love after she had been abducted by the being last year. Over the course of the shockingly long nine minute segment which was treated with genuine seriousness by the program's hosts, she reflected on the benefits and challenges of being in a relationship with an alien, while also sharing some insights on ETs that her spacefaring partner revealed to her.
