7 States Pushing to do Away with Daylight Saving Time

Another Daylight Saving Time comes to an end this weekend -- and seven states aren't happy about it.

In fact, the states -- Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Nevada, Oregon, Tennessee and Washington -- are pushing to make Daylight Saving Time permanent so residents can stop changing their clocks twice a year. All seven have already approved legislation to stop the twice-a-year ritual, but the bills need approval from the federal government before they can be put into effect. President Trump has indicated he's in favor of leaving clocks alone for the year.

However, there are those who want to leave things the way they are. Among the opponents of eliminating Daylight Saving Time is the National Parent-Teach Association, which argues kids will have to go to school in the dark in winter months if clocks aren't changed. And the U.S. Department of Transportation claims the clock-changing practice saves energy and reduces crime.
