Authorities say they busted a plot to smuggle drugs hidden in Bibles into the Shelby County jail. Six men are facing charges. The county drug enforcement task force says the suspects were trying to get Suboxone, a drug used to treat opiate addition, to inmates. Authorities say the drug can create a "high," similar to opiates. The suspects were identified as: 33-year old Charles Caldwell of Calera, 20-year old Altonius Mason of Birmingham, 37-year old Larry Morris of Wilsonville, 56-year old Larry Morris of Shelby, 25-year old Jacob Mykicz of Homewood, and 20-year old Quran Wilson of Hoover. All are charged with conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and conspiracy to promote prison contraband.
