Galleria Shooting Video Under Review

Video of the Thanksgiving night police shooting at the Riverchase Galleria is in the hands of investigators, Hoover Mayor Frank Brocato announced Monday.  "All video evidence was immediately transferred to outside agencies that were investigating this," Brocato said, reading from a prepared statement.  The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, which is leading the investigation, has custody of the video, Brocato said.  "They will determine when it will be released."   21-year old Emantic "EJ" Bradford Jr. was shot and killed by a policeman responding to gunfire Thanksgiving night on the mall's second level, near Footaction.   The gunman, who has not been publicly identified, remains at large.   The initial shooting injured an 18-year old man and a 12-year old girl.    There have been calls, including from Bradford's family, for authorities to release the video, saying it could answer crucial questions about the incident.   Brocato pleaded for patience as the investigation plays out.   He also expressed sympathy for the death of Bradford, and said the city was arranging a meeting with his family.   Protesters Monday night temporarily shut down  Highway 31 in front of Hoover City Hall.   The demonstrators then marched to the Galleria where the protest continued inside the mall.
