Vestavia Hills Polling Place Linked to COVID-19

Some Election Day voters in Vestavia Hills may have been exposed to the coronavirus, county health officials said Thursday. Anyone who voted at Horizon Church should be monitoring for fever, chills, muscle aches, loss of taste or smell or other symptoms, and get tested if those symptoms appear. People who experience shortness of breath should seek care immediately. Voters over the age of 60, or those who have underlying conditions, are advised to call their doctors. All others are advised to monitor their health until Nov. 17, which marks two weeks after Election Day. The polling precinct was the scene of long lines that wrapped around the building, with many voters saying they waited three hours to cast ballot.
