The Alabama department of Transportation (ALDOT) is advising motorists in Alabama to be aware of possible icy conditions as soon as Sunday night until Tuesday morning in certain parts of Alabama.
Currently in our listening area including Jefferson, Blount Shelby and Walker County we are under a Winter Storm Watch indicating the possibility of Light freezing rain across West Alabama tonight then a winter storm with mixed precipitation across the western half of Central Alabama Monday and Monday night with heavy mixed precipitation possible. Total ice accumulations of up to two tenths of an inch possible and sleet accumulations up to a quarter of an inch with locally higher amounts. Temperatures fall below freezing Monday night in Walker, Blount, Jefferson, and Shelby Counties. This may create slippery roads and possible power outages.
