Rep. Mo Brooks Wednesday said he was "blindsided" by former President Donald Trump's decision to rescind his endorsement of the Huntsville Republican in Alabama's U.S. Senate race. The announcement came as new polls showed Brooks -- once the front-runner in the GOP primary -- trailing Mike Durant and Katie Britt. But Brooks -- appearing on "Alabama's Morning News with JT" on NewsRadio 105.5 WERC suggested the former President was motivated by the congressman's refusal to issue a public statement calling for President Joe Biden's removal from office, followed by the reinstatement of Trump. Brooks also claimed Trump was "manipulated" by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who the former President has strongly criticized. "I see Mitch McConnell's fingerprints all over this," Brooks said. The announcement triggered a wave of speculation in political circles about which candidate will receive the endorsement. Brooks said he suspects Trump will now endorse Britt, and added with a laugh, "but again, with Donald Trump, who knows what he's going to do next?"
