Authorities have identified the two firemen shot at a fire station on Wednesday. Firefighters Jordan Melton and Jamal Jones were gunned down in an attack at Fire Station No. 9 in Norwood. Melton is listed in critical condition at UAB Hospital, while Jones is in serious condition. The Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service says it is sending thoughts and prayers to the wounded firemen, their families, and their family in the department. Police Chief Scott Thurmond says it appears the men were targeted, but the motive was unclear. The suspect remained at large Wednesday evening.
