Breaking his silence on the matter, Congressman Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) Thursday voted against the Republican healthcare bill. The House Budget committee narrowly approved the plan to replace Obamacare, on a vote of 19-17. Palmer was among three members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus to oppose the GOP leadership on the crucial vote. Palmer said: "We have one opportunity to answer the healthcare crisis the American people are facing. In my opinion, the current bill does not answer this crisis." Palmer said "promises of changes in the future are insufficient." Now that the legislation is moving forward, Palmer says he will continue to work for improvements in the bill.
