Bentley Impeachment Report Released

An explosive impeachment report outlining the case for impeaching Gov. Robert Bentley was released Friday.     The report, compiled  by the special counsel to the House Judiciary Committee, details an extramarital affair between Bentley and adviser Rebekah Mason, and a related misuse of state resources.    "Governor Bentley directed law enforcement to advance his personal interests and, in a process characterized by increasing obsession and paranoia, subjected career law enforcement officers to tasks intended to protect his reputation," the 131-page report alleges.   Investigators say Bentley fostered an "atmosphere of intimidation."  Bentley again denied any wrongdoing  during a hastily called press conference, and said he had no plans to resign.   House Speaker Mac McCutcheon (R-Monrovia) became the latest GOP leader to call for Bentley to step down.  "Let's end this embarrassment to our state right now," McCutcheon said.
