Teenager Arrested in Church Carnival Shooting

A suspect has been arrested  in the shooting at a church carnival in Center Point, the Jefferson County sheriff's office said Friday.  17-year old Laeric Bailey -- a Huffman High School student -- is charged with opening fire at the carnival at the  Cathedral of the Cross church last Saturday night.   The shooting and related mayhem injured six people, including a baby.  Chief Deputy Randy Christian says it grew out of an argument among teenagers.  "He said that he had initiated the fight, that it was over a girl, that he quickly realized he was outnumbered, and he decided to pull his gun out and started shooting and running, to get himself out of the fight," Christian said.  "It's the fault of this 17-year old thug."   Bailey is charged with assault.
