Jefferson County Commissioner David Carrington Monday announced he's running for governor. The Vestavia Hills Republican told supporters gathered at Vulcan Park he's entering the race, "not for me, but for us." The reference was intended to underline Carrington's campaign slogan "A Governor 4Us. He described a 4-point platform: "Unifying us with trustworthy leadership, upgrading education ... unlocking jobs ... and untangling the mess in Montgomery." Carrington joins a Republican field that includes Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle. Gov. Kay Ivey has not said whether she will seek a full term next year.
