State Rep. Jack Williams (R-Vestavia Hills) Wednesday announced that he is running for the Jefferson County Commission. Williams told a group of supporters at Homewood's Soho Square that he wants to turn his efforts to local issues, after more than a decade in the Legislature. The incumbent commissioner in District 5 -- David Carrington -- is running for governor. The primary is in June, 2018. The heavily Republican district includes Vestavia Hills, Homewood, Mountain Brook, and Hoover.
