The gunman who opened fire on Republicans practicing for a charity congressional baseball game in Alexandria, Va. Wednesday was carrying a list containing the names of GOP lawmakers, Fox News reported. The Daily Caller reported that the name of Alabama Congressman Mo Brooks (R-Huntsville) appeared on that list. Brooks's office referred questions to the U.S. Capitol Police. Brooks was on deck, awaiting his turn at bat, when the gunman opened fire from near the third base dugout, forcing Brooks and other lawmakers to take cover. FBI agents discovered the list on the body of gunman James Hodgkinson. The discovery supported the theory that the gunman's attack was a premeditated attempted political assassination. Hodgkinson shot four people including House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.), before he was shot and killed by police. Scalise remained in critical condition Friday.
