Rape Charge for Teen Acquitted in Hoover Murder

The teenager acquitted in the murder of a Hoover veteran is now charged with rape.    Charleston Wells, 18, is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Bessemer.    At the time of the 2015 attack, the rapist's identity was unknown.    But prosecutors say DNA links Wells to the crime.   Judge David Carpenter set bond at $500,000.   In May, a jury found Wells not guilty of murdering Mike Gilotti outside his home in Lake Cyrus in 2016.    Prosecutors criticized the verdict, saying "justice was not done."   Three others face trials in the killing.
