This year's race for governor is taking shape. Gov. Kay Ivey Monday made her campaign official on the first day of qualifying at Alabama Republican Party headquarters in Hoover. Ivey says the state has made progress under her leadership, following the resignation of disgraced former Gov. Robert Bentley. " I was proud to be able to step up and fill that void, and have a successful transition," Ivey said. Former Alabama Chief Justice Sue Bell Cobb qualified at state Democratic Party headquarters in Montgomery. Cobb pledged to push for a state lottery benefitting education. Other candidates will jump into the race for both parties' nominations before qualifying ends next month.
