U.S. Sen. Doug Jones (D-Mountain Brook) renewed criticism of a proposal to arm teachers following the Florida school massacre. "Doing that's just a dumb idea," Jones said during an appearance in Huntsville. "Doesn't matter whether it's a bill in the Alabama Legislature, or coming out of the White House." Jones said teachers "have enough responsibilities," without arming them. But President Trump again defended the idea Friday, during a joint press conference at the White House with the Australian prime minister. "When you have somebody with a gun, staring you down, it's going to be a lot different."
