Police Friday shot and wounded a man following a confrontation at a store, authorities said. The man entered the Hibbett Sports on Academy Drive, and employees called 911. "I believe hew was asked to leave, I know the store employees were scared to the point that they exited the building prior to police arriving," Lt. Jon Riley of the State Bureau of Investigation said. The policeman was not injured, and the suspect was being treated at UAB. He is a resident of a reentry program for ex-cons at the Foundry Ministries in Bessemer, investigators said.
