Outgoing state Rep. Patricia Todd (D-Birmingham) lost a job from an Orlando, Fla.-based LGBT group, after posting a message on social media suggesting Gov. Kay Ivey was a closeted homosexual. One Orlando Alliance Thursday issued a statement that Todd's comments "are not aligned with the values" of its board. The group offered to make Patricia Todd, Alabama's only openly gay state legislator, its new executive director. She was to have begun on June 1, and was in the process of moving to Orlando.
Todd came under widespread criticism after posting the following message about Ivey: "Will someone out her for God's sake....I have heard for years that she is gay and moved her girlfriend out of her house when she became Gov. I am sick of closeted elected officials."
Ivey called it a "disgusting lie being pushed by a paid liberal political hack."
