Birmingham Police Spokesman Arrested

A Birmingham policeman who was the public face of the department was arrested and charged with rape.  Lt. Pete Williston, 48, was accused by a female relative, Morris police said.   The sexual assaults occurred from 2008-11 when the victim was a teenager, investigators said.   Williston, who until recently served as the department's public information officer, was taken into custody after reportedly checking himself into the psychiatric ward at UAB.   He is being held on $50,000 bond.
