A freshman linebacker with the University of Alabama is off the team. VanDarius Cowan has been let go from the Crimson Tide for violating team rules. The dismissal comes less than one week after he was arrested for misdemeanor assault connected to a June incident at a Tuscaloosa bar. The 19 year old from Palm Beach Gardens, Florida had been expected to get playing time this season. The statement from Coach Saban did not address the arrest. Saban saying in part... “Each of us has a responsibility to represent The University of Alabama in a first-class way, and failure to meet those standards can’t be tolerated."
