Mayor Randall Woodfin has introduced a searchable online portal, dubbed "Open Checkbook". Nearly one million pieces of data are available, where you can see the city's budgets as well as expenditures since 2009. Woodfin says in a press release: " The Open Checkbook portal is helping us uphold our campaign promise of a transparent government." Viewers will be able to see what amount of money is going to each city department, as well as to Birmingham's 99 neighborhood associations. Also, you can see descriptions and details of individual transactions made by each department.
