Gov. Kay Ivey's popularity remains high, a new poll finds. Ivey's approval rating is 67 percent, according to a survey by Morning Consult. Just 17 percent disapprove. Ivey had the third highest approval rating of any governor. The poll suggests Ivey is in a strong position as she moves toward the general election, in which she faces Democrat Walt Maddox, the mayor of Tuscaloosa. Maddox this week renewed his call for debates. But political observers say Ivey's popularity gives her little reason to participate.
