Senator Richard Shelby (R-Tuscaloosa) Monday declared his support for President Trump's Supreme Court nominee, Judge Brett Kavanaugh. After meeting with Kavanaugh, Shelby said he's confident the judge is "principled, intelligent, and a steadfast supporter of the rule of law." Shelby said the nominee is "highly-qualified" adding that he "exhibits strong, conservative values and an unwavering commitment to our Constitution." It's still unclear whether Alabama's junior senator, Doug Jones (D-Mountain Brook), will support Kavanaugh. Jones last week said he's "keeping an open mind."
