The Alabama Democrat party re-elects Nancy Worley as their chairman. The committee voted 101 to 89 on Saturday for Worley. Senator Doug Jones had nominated Montgomery Attorney Peck Fox for the job. Jones, Alabama's first Democrat Senator in 25 years, and the only party member to hold a statewide elected office had called for "change in the party" prior to the weekend vote. He expressed disappointment in the outcome, saying in a statement:"Our candidates are going to have to go it alone, like I did". Worley commenting on Facebook saying:"I thank the courageous members of the State Democratic Executive Committee who stood up and voted for me in spite of extreme arm twisting".
