Missing Evidence Leads to Trial Dismissal

The Brighton police department lost the gun and shell casings in the murder case of 21 year old Cadarrien Jawaun McLemore. He was set to face a jury this week for the shooting death of Kevin Hatter in Brighton in 2015. The judge agreeing with his attorney that he could not get a fair trial with key evidence missing, but if the prosecution comes up with new evidence, McLemore could still be tried for Hatter's death. The new police chief in Brighton, Larry Woods says the department didn't have an organized way of tracking evidence before he recently took over and they are working to correct the problem.
