Pence Visits Birmingham

Vice President Mike Pence Tuesday visited Birmingham, headlining a campaign fundraiser a week before the midterm elections.    Appearing at the airport with Gov. Kay Ivey, Pence said that he and President Trump are committed to putting an end to the illegal immigration crisis.   "That means building a wall, it means securing our border, it means enforcing our laws, but it also means reforming our laws, engaging in a debate on birthright citizenship," Pence said.     The Vice President appeared at a campaign fundraiser for Senate Republicans, who hope to keep -- or expand-- their majority in next week's election.   Former state Rep. Paul DeMarco (R-Homewood) said their prospects are good.  "It looks like, not only will they keep the Senate, but  ... they may actually even pick up a couple of seats."
