Republican members of the Jefferson and Shelby County legislative delegations gather Saturday to take the oath of office. It will be administered by Alabama Supreme Court Justice Mike Bolin during a meeting of the Mid-Alabama Republican Club in Vestavia Hills. Newly-elected state Rep. David Wheeler of Vestavia will take the oath, along with reelected state Reps. Jim Carns of Vestavia, Dickie Drake of Leeds, Allen Treadaway of Morris, and Allen Farley of McCalla. State Sen. J.T. "Jabo" Waggoner of Vestavia and state Sen.-elect Dan Roberts of Mountain Brook will also be sworn-in. The meeting, at Vestavia's Library in the Forest, begins at 9 a.m. The event is free, and open to the public.
