Alabama Teen Assisted 12-Year-Old Galleria Gunshot Victim

While many fled the Riverchase Galleria for safety on Thanksgiving night (November 22), this Alabama National guardsman stayed behind to help an innocent gunshot victim.

There was two shots that were fired at first and then about a three to five second pause and then that's when like two or three more were fired. At that time, you know, it was chaotic.

18-year-old Rashad Billingsley says he found a side door exit to leave the mall when he crossed paths with Molly. The 12 year old was complaining about her back hurting.

I seen that she had blood on her shirt. So, what I did was lifted her shirt up, and then when I lifted it up, I seen that she had a bullet wound.

Rashad quickly took action, applied pressure to the wound, and stayed with her until medics arrived on scene. Many are thankful for his kindness, especially Molly's mother who shared this note on Facebook.

The City of Hoover and the Hoover Police Department promised transparency and weekly updates regarding the shooting and investigation which has been handed over to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).
