The accused killer in a robbery at a Pleasant Grove fast food restaurant Thursday pleaded guilty. 22-year old Roderick King (right) admitted to shooting customer Ashton Roberts, 21, (left) during a robbery at Jack's in 2016. Prosecutors say King also robbed a Papa Murphy's Pizza in Hueytown, and fired shots inside a Burger King restaurant in Fairfield. Under terms of the plea deal, King avoided a possible death sentence. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. "Roderick King is a very bad person," Pleasant Grove police Lt. Danny Reid said. "He took the life of someone who was just starting out, and if anyone needed the death penalty, it was him. I'm pleased, though, that he is going to be without his freedom, for the rest of his life."
