President Trump has signed an executive order to help those in so-called "opportunity zones". The federal initiative is designed to boost investment in struggling communities. Investors in these zones will be offered reduced capital gains taxes by Treasury Department. There are more than 87 hundred opportunity zones in the U.S. 35 million people live in them. In Alabama, 163 zones have been designated, including 24 in Jefferson County.
