A suspected burglar was shot and injured Friday afternoon, at an apartment complex in Vestavia Hills, police said. The suspect was exiting a unit at the Elevation apartments off Columbiana Road, when he was confronted by the resident and shot at approximately 4:45 p.m., investigators said. The injured suspect ran across Columbiana Road to the Vestawood Apartments, where officers found him, placed him in custody, and transported him to UAB for treatment, police said. The suspect's condition was not known. The victim was not injured, police said.
