Ending the partial government shutdown is more important for Alabama than border security, Sen. Doug Jones (D-Mountain Brook) said Sunday. Speaking on CNN's “State of the Union,” Jones refused to say whether he would vote for any money to fund President Trump's proposed border wall. "You know, our state wants the government to open, to be open for business. I think that’s the most important thing for the people of Alabama right now," Jones said. Pressed on border wall funding, Jones said, "I’m not going to give wall money just to give wall money." President Trump was planning to address the nation Tuesday night, after tweeting that the situation on the border with Mexico is "a National Security crisis."
