Gov. Kay Ivey Friday said she supported President Donald Trump's decision to declare a national emergency over the situation at the border with Mexico. Appearing in Birmingham, Ivey said there are security problems at the border, and that they need to be fixed. President Trump issued the declaration as a means to tap $8 billion in federal funds for construction of the border wall. The President also signed a bipartisan border bill, averting another partial government shutdown, that provides about $1.4 billion for the wall. President Trump had requested $5.7 billion, and said that the amount offered by Congress was inadequate to secure the border.
