Alabama Abortion Bill Approved

The Republican-led Alabama Senate gave final approval Tuesday to a bill outlawing most abortions. The measure easily passed the chamber, 25-6, following hours of often emotional debate. The Senate, by a vote of 21-11, rejected a Democrat-backed effort to add exceptions for rape and incest. Supporters have said adding the exceptions would hurt chances of using the law as a way to challenge Roe vs. Wade. Gov. Kay Ivey said she was waiting to see the bill before deciding whether to sign or veto it.
