Alabama Lottery Bill Dies

Powerball Drawing On Wednesday For 750 Million Is One Of The Biggest Jackpots In Game's History

A bill authorizing a vote on a lottery in Alabama was pronounced dead for the session on Wednesday. State Rep. Steve Clouse (R-Ozark) says he can't find enough votes. The bill was attacked by lawmakers from both parties. Some Republicans expressed a moral opposition to expanding gambling. Democrats objected because the bill didn't include protections for electronic bingo in Greene and Macon counties.
