Auburn Police: Teen Driver in Bramblett Crash Says He Fell Asleep

The teenage driver involved in the wreck that killed Auburn Tigers broadcaster Rod Bramblett and his wife, said he fell asleep at the wheel, police said. The 16-year old, quoted in a police report, told officers that he does not remember what happened. Investigators previously ruled out alcohol and phone use as contributing factors. Bramblett, 53, and his wife Paula were killed last month when their SUV was rear-ended by the teenager's vehicle on Shug Jordan Parkway in Auburn. After the investigation is completed, it will be turned over to the district attorney, who will decide if charges are warranted.
