Jones Losing Support in Alabama: Poll

Sen. Doug Jones's approval rating has taken a hit, a new poll shows. The survey, by Morning Consult, indicates the Mountain Brook Democrat's net approval rating fell 20 points since he took office in 2018. During that time, Jones opposed President Trump on some high-profile votes, including the confirmation of now-U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Jones's approval rating stands at 39 percent, while 37 percent disapprove. That ranks Jones among the 10 least popular senators, according to the poll. Jones's weak standing has drawn a growing number of Republicans into the race, including former Auburn football coach Tommy Tuberville, Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill, Congressman Bradley Byrne, and state Rep. Arnold Mooney.
