Hoover Bridge Named for Mike Gilotti

The city of Hoover honors the memory of a murdered veteran. A bridge on Highway 150 is now named for Mike Gilotti. The Iraq War veteran was gunned down outside his home in 2016 by gang members who were breaking into cars. Juries in Bessemer failed to convict the accused killers of murder. The city council and legislature approved resolutions to rename the bridge, and it was signed by Gov. Kay Ivey. State Reps. David Wheeler (R-Vestavia Hills) and Arnold Mooney (R-Indian Springs Village) will present the Gilotti family with resolutions at next Monday's city council meeting.
