A convicted sex offender is being sought in the death of Paighton Houston, authorities announced Thursday. Jefferson County sheriff's deputies say Fredrick Hampton, 50, will be charged with abuse of a corpse. Houston, 29, and Hampton were together on Dec. 20, and she died the next day at a home in Brighton, Chief Deputy David Agee said. Hampton then disposed of Houston's body in a criminal manner, Agee said. The Trussville woman's remains were found in a shallow grave in Hueytown, two weeks after she was last seen leaving a Birmingham bar. Hampton, who has 1991 convictions for rape and sodomy, will also be charged with failing to register as a sex offender, Agee said.
