Alabamian Confirmed for Federal Appeals Court, Jones Votes "No"

The Senate Tuesday confirmed an Alabamian for a seat on a federal appeals court. The vote for Andrew Brasher was 52-43, and fell largely along party lines. Democrats--including Sen. Doug Jones -- opposed Brasher's nomination, claiming that he's hostile to voting rights for minorities. Republicans fired back, accusing Democrats of spreading more lies about voter suppression. Sen. Richard Shelby says Brasher’s confirmation "is a testament to his vast legal ability and commitment to upholding the rule of law as it is written."
