Ivey Reopens More Alabama Businesses

Gov. Kay Ivey Thursday issued an order lifting more restrictions issued due to the coronavirus. Alabama entertainment venues, including theaters, bowling alleys, and water parks will be allowed to operate. The order also green-lights child care centers, summer camps, and athletic activities. Practices and workouts may start May 23, with competitions authorized effective June 15. "Our numbers are not as good as we would hope,” Ivey said. "But we cannot sustain a delayed way of life as we search for a vaccine. It’s not realistic to believe we’re going to keep everyone totally isolated from each other." All other provisions of the order take effect Friday at 5 p.m.
