Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin Tuesday banned protests on public property in the city, citing the emergency order in effect due to civil unrest. "We have expanded the curfew to forbid gatherings and parades and marches throughout the day," Woodfin said. The order follows Sunday night's riot, in which vandals, looters and arsonists unleashed mayhem and destruction on scores of downtown businesses. Police said they are receiving many tips about the unrest, and appealed to the public to send more videos. You can submit video anonymously to CrimeStoppers, at (205) 254-7777. The city remains under a 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew.
