Virtual Learning Urged for Middle and High School Students

As decisions are made about the upcoming school year, the top health official in Jefferson County weighed in on Monday. Dr. Mark Wilson says older students -- in middle and high school -- should only attend virtual classes this fall. The county health officer says younger students can attend in-person classes, but only if schools can observe the usual protocols, like social distancing and masks. Wilson advised that "close contact sports" should be postponed or canceled. Wilson issued the guidance following a conference call with school superintendents.
