Hoover Schools Reopening Plan

The Hoover City Schools will start the school year with a staggered schedule based on last names, officials said Monday. The Board of Education approved a plan in which students with surnames beginning with the letters A-K will attend school Mondays and Thursdays; students with last names L-Z on Tuesdays and Fridays. Students will use remote learning for the other days. Wednesdays will be designated as a time for teachers to prepare and offer help for students using the remote learning option. The schedule will be in effect for the first four weeks of the school year, which is scheduled to begin Aug. 20.
