It's a second term for Hoover Mayor Frank Brocato. He won reelection Tuesday in a landslide over city council president Gene Smith. "It's a great confidence in me, but it's also a great pressure," Brocato said, after the results came in. "They're expecting things, for our city to continue to prosper." Brocato won 75 percent of the vote. In Homewood, three-term Mayor Scott McBrayer went down to defeat. McBrayer says he's leaving Homewood in great shape. The challengers -- Chris Lane and Councilman Patrick McCluskey -- will meet in an October runoff.
