Jones Votes to Block GOP Coronavirus Relief Bill

Sen. Doug Jones (D-Mountain Brook) voted with Democrats Thursday to block a Republican coronavirus relief bill. Jones, the most vulnerable Senate Democrat running this year, did not take a position before Thursday's procedural vote. The legislation needed 60 votes to advance but fell 8 votes short: 52-47. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) blamed Democrats, saying they do not want to send a bill to President Trump before the election.
